Description

Thrives in open forests and rocky slopes of mountain ranges. Leaves or lance or oval shaped and covered with wooly hairs growing vertically from the base of the plant.

Seeds are edible tasting similar to sunflower seeds. Native Indians gathered the seeds and ground it into flour.
